Hi, I’m Manel Fornos, a software engineer based in Barcelona, Spain. I hold a degree in Physics from the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona and an MSc in Data Science from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.

Interests

I’m interested in a wide range of topics, but my main focus is always on software development and applied mathematics. I’m especially drawn to machine learning for science and engineering, with a particular focus on deep learning and graph neural networks.

Skills

Programming Languages

Python, C#, Bash, and SQL for backend development, scripting, and data-related tasks.

Some experience with JavaScript and ReactJS for web development and frontend projects.

Data Science

I work with data throughout its full lifecycle: collecting, cleaning, exploring, and analyzing datasets. I design and implement machine learning models, including deep learning and graph neural networks, and apply them to practical problems. My experience covers all stages of the data workflow, from preprocessing and feature engineering to model evaluation and deployment.

I usually work with libraries and frameworks like Pandas, Scikit-Learn, PyTorch, PyTorch Geometric, and NetworkX.

Software Engineering

Primarily focused on backend development, including web services, APIs, and scripting. Experienced in testing and maintaining reliable, production-ready systems.

My Working Environment

I mainly work on GNU/Linux (Debian) and use Git for version control. My main tools include VS Codium and Jupyter Notebooks for development and LaTeX for documentation and technical writing.
